| Texas Pro Jan Bruner |
While Jan is not a native born Texan, she has made Texas her home since 1976 when she moved her from Michigan. She and her husband Billy live in Cedar Hill. She is the proud mother of four children and grandmother of two beautiful grandchildren.
Once in Texas, Jan began fishing from the bank and in two short years, she and her first husband bought a boat and began fishing tournaments. This tournament fishing led to her starting to fish with the Dallas Bass’n Gals when it was formed in 1984. Throughout her fishing career, Jan has experienced numerous memorable moments; two of which stand out amongst all of the others. The first of which came in 1994 on Lake Aquilla where her five fish totally thirty-three pounds and her big bass came in at 9.03 lbs during a Dallas Bass’n Gals club tournament. The second of her most memorable experiences came during the Lady Bass Anglers Association Inaugural Tournament in May of 2010 on Lake Dardanelle, in Russellville, Arkansas where Jan was the Co-Angler Champion. When asked to name her favorite lakes, it is no surprise that the majority of them are in Texas. These include Lake Aquilla, Lake Bob Sandlin, and Lake Cypress Springs. Two out of state lakes include Lake Hartwell and Lake Seminole. When on these and any lake, her techniques of choice are a Texas rig worm and top water. Regardless of what body of water she is on, Jan credits her sponsors and family with her success. These include Castaway Graphite Rods, DIVA Women Outdoors Worldwide and her husband Billy Bruner.
