I. PARTICIPANTS AND ELIGIBILITY
a. Any female ages 16 and above whom is in good health.
b. If the contestant is under 18, a notarized release signed by their legal guardian is required to be on file at tournament headquarters prior to the tournament meeting.
c. Paid entry fee of $400 for Pro-Angler and $200 for Co-Angler.
d. Payouts will be made to every 1 in 5 anglers in each division.
e. All anglers must sign a liability release/ waiver form and a publicity and likeness release prior to the start of competition.
II. TOURNAMENTS
The Lady Bass Anglers Association Tournament Season will consist of:
a. Four regular season events.
1. Angler of the Year Awards points will be based on the highest three out of four event points. Anglers fishing all four will automatically have the lowest score dropped.
b. One Championship (Lady Bass Classic)

III. INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES
a. Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the tournament officials. The decision of the tournament officials will be final in all matters.

IV. STATE GAME REGULATIONS
a. All competitors must abide by all state game regulations and be in possession of a valid fishing license for all waters fished.
V. OFF LIMITS
a. The host marina waters are off limits for all events as are all areas designated by state, Federal and local authorities.
b. Tournament officials may designate additional areas as off limits when deemed necessary.
c. No angler or practice partner may be on competition waters starting six (6) days, Monday through Saturday, prior to the first official day of practice for each regular season event. (This is considered “Dead Water”.) Any exceptions to this rule will be provided through official Lady Bass Angler Association correspondence.
d. During “Dead Water” anglers may still obtain information from outside sources.
e. All anglers must be off tournament waters by 12 noon the day before the first day of competition. The exception to this will be to test an engine due to repairs and must be approved by the tournament director in advance.
f. Locking or no locking for each tournament will be designated before official practice begins.

a. During the official practice and competition days, no competitor may operate a boat unless that contestant has documented proof of a minimum of $300,000 per occurrence boating liability insurance covering the boat being used in the tournament.
b. Proof of insurance must be with the boat being used and must cover the competitors using that boat. (Specifically the Declaration Page)
c. Tournament officials will conduct random insurance checks with boat numbers identified at the tournament briefing.
d. Failure to provide the appropriate insurance documentation prior to take-off of the first day of competition will result in the angler being detained until appropriate insurance documentation is provided.

VII. REGISTRATION
a. Registration will open on January 1, and anglers may register for single tournaments or for all tournaments.
b. A deposit equal to one half of the entry in each division is required. All but $50 of a deposit is refundable.
c. Final payment is due 30 days prior to the first official day of competition.
d. There will be a $50 late registration fee.

f. An angler’s registered time stamp holds their spot in the tournament for which they are registering, unless the final payment is not made by the entry deadline. A late payment moves an angler to the bottom of the registration list.
VIII. CELL PHONES AND RADIOS
a. During the official practice and competition days, a competitor may not use a CB radio, a VHF marine-band radio, a cellular phone, or any other type of communication device, for the purpose of locating or catching fish. (i.e. Text, Photos, Maps, GPS Coordinates, Smoke signals … Got the MESSAGE!!!!)
b. During competition, competitors are permitted to transmit by radio, telephone, or any other type of communication device, only in the event of an emergency.
c. If so equipped, competitors may listen to public broadcasts or marine-band radios.

IX. PRACTICE
a. The official practice period will begin five (5) days prior to the first day of competition for each regular season event.
b. Official practice begins on Sunday before the first day of competition and ends at 12 noon on the Thursday, with the tournament starting on Friday. Anglers may not obtain information related to locating or catching fish from anyone other than fellow competitors during the official practice period and extends through the conclusion of the tournament. This includes but is not limited to information that spouses and approved practice partners may garner during the same time frame.
c. Co-anglers may not share any information related to the catching or locating of fish, which was obtained while fishing with a pro, with another competitor for the duration of official practice and competition days.
d. No licensed and/ or paid guides may be used during the official practice period.
e. No fly-over’s of tournament waters, and no scuba diving, skin diving or snorkeling in tournament waters during the official practice period or competition days.
f. Competitors may practice alone, with another contestant or with a member of their immediate family (mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparent, grandchild or spouse) or an approved youth under the age of 16, provided the practice companion has also observed the off limits period and procedures. Pros and co-anglers may also practice with an approved media rep or approved domestic partner.
g. Once the tournament begins, and until the close of the scales on the final day, competitors may not obtain or share information related to locating or catching fish with anyone other than fellow competitors.
h. Anyone other than an official competitor must be pre-approved by the tournament director and are to be identified on the official tournament registration form 30 days prior to the first official day of competition.
i. Approved practice partners, at the discretion of the boater, may operate the combustion engine and or trolling motor during official practice.
j. During official practice, co-anglers not practicing with a pro angler, may practice, drive, and fish from the front deck of their own boat as long as they have 300,000 worth of liability insurance and adhere to all of the above rules.

X. TOURNAMENT HOURS
a. This is based upon the time zone in which the launch of competition will take place. It is the responsibility of the competitor to know and observe these times.
b. The tournament will begin at “SAFE LIGHT” with boats launching in flights and returning in staggered flights beginning at 3:00 P.M. local time.

XI. TAKE-OFF SEQUENCE
a. Boats will be flighted in order to maintain a smooth and safe start.
b. Flights on subsequent days of competition will flip. First flight will be last and last flight will be first.

XII. COMPETITION
a. Boats will launch from the designated ramp unless otherwise indicated by the tournament director. The Pro-angler has control of the boat at all times.
b. The Pro-angler fishes from the front of the boat and the Co-angler fishes from the back of the boat. Co-anglers can be on the front deck to land a fish, get unhung or net a fish.
c. Exceptions, if the Pro-angler chooses, she may have the Co-angler run the trolling motor in the event of an emergency. However, all fishing must stop for the duration of the emergency.
d. Any Pro-angler that, in the judgment of the tournament director operates the boat in such a manner as to unfairly handicap their Co-angler shall be disqualified.
e. At no time may a Pro-angler request that the Co-angler not fish.
f. In view of the large expense involved in operating and maintaining a tournament bass boat, it is suggested that the Co-angler share, at minimum, the cost of gas and oil for the competition.

a. Only artificial baits may be used. The exception to this will be pork trailers.
b. All bass must be caught in a legal sporting manner. No snagging.
c. If an angler is sight fishing for bedding bass, the hook must be completely inside the mouth and verified by partner for the catch to be legal.
d. Each competitor may use only one (1) rod at a time. No rods over eight (8) feet in length.
e. Trolling by combustion engine is not permitted.
f. No competitor may leave the boat to catch or land a fish.
g. If a pro does not have a net in the boat, a co-angler has the choice to bring her own net.

d. A short fish brought to the scales will result in a one (1) pound penalty, plus the loss of the short fish.
e. Dead fish will result in a penalty of eight (8) ounces. Dead fish cannot be weighed in as big bass.
f. No professional anglers will possess more than five (5) fish in their livewell at any time.
g. No co-angler will possess more than three (3) fish in their livewell at any time
h. Anglers must cull immediately upon catching their first fish over the legal limit for their division.

XV. BOAT/MOTOR/SAFETY
a. Boats must be at least 16’ in length or more.
b. Boats must have functional and properly aerated live wells, in place to adequately maintain two (2) separate limits of fish of legal length alive.
c. Motor size may not exceed 250 hp and must match the US Coast Guard maximum horsepower rating.
d. All boats must be equipped with an approved type of operable ignition cut-off/kill switch and lanyard, which must be attached to the driver any time the combustion engine is running. The only exception to this rule will be during the loading of a boat onto the trailer when a single individual is involved and this is the only means of properly securing and seating the boat on the trailer. Only one manufactured lanyard may be used.
e. Every boat must have all required Coast Guard safety equipment and a functional bilge pump during all practice and competition days.
f. Safe boating conduct must be maintained at all times.
g. Each contestant is required to wear a Coast Guard approved personal floatation device securely fastened at all times the combustion engine is operating.
h. Running lights must be operational and on at launch and be used during all times that visibility is reduced.
i. Tournament officials reserve the right to make any necessary adjustments to the rules due to safety considerations such as dangerous weather/water conditions.
j. Failure to comply with all boat/motor/safety rules will be grounds for disqualification.
k. It is highly suggested that the pro has some type of seating for the back deck available if so needed by the co-angler.

a. Competitors shall remain with their partners in the boat at all times during the tournament.
b. In case of a breakdown, one competitor may remain with the boat and the other may return in another tournament competitor’s boat with both catches of fish to the weigh-in.
c. The signal of distress will be the waving of the dip-net. Any competitor who witnesses the distress signal is asked to stop and render assistance.
d. Staff has the leeway to designate an appropriate means of keeping a co-angler on the water in the case of an emergency where a pro is unable to finish the competition.

e. Competitors who are late to check-in, will be penalized at a rate of one (1) pound per minute up to 15 minutes, at which time they will be disqualified.

XVIII. MEDIA / PUBLICITY
a. By willfully participating in The Lady Bass Anglers Association tournament, all participants grant, the unconditional, royalty free, perpetual right and license to use their name voice, and photographic likeness in connection with The Lady Bass Anglers Association tournament with promotions, television shows, DVD’s, video streaming, and /or articles and press releases.
b. This agreement extends to any and all future media events that The Lady Bass Anglers Association may wish to pursue.
c. Participants agree that they are not entitled to receive any royalties or other compensation in connection with such use.
d. It is the expectation that competitors refrain from comments to the news media, on social networking sites, or other media, regardless of formats, that unreasonably attacks or disparages the integrity of the tournament, tournament officials, sponsors, fellow anglers or the tournament organization.
e. Violation of any or all of the above rules can result in penalties up to disqualification or banning from future tournament registrations.
f. The location of the Lady Bass Anglers Association insignia will be on the on the upper portion of the jersey or wear Lady Bass Anglers Association head wear. This is highly recommended for all anglers.

a. Ties at the end of a tournament will be broken by the largest one day weight during the competition.

XX. SPORTSMANSHIP / ANGLER CONDUCT
a. All anglers and tournament staff are expected to maintain the highest level of professionalism from the start of the pre-launch until all official tournament business for the day is concluded.
b. Each contestant is expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation.
c. The consumption of, or under the influence of, drugs and alcohol during competition hours is strictly prohibited.
d. No contestant may fish within fifty (50) yards of another competitor who is anchored with the trolling motor in the up position. Anglers using a shallow water anchoring system to maintain boat position must have the trolling motor in the up position in order for this fifty (50) yard spacing rule to apply.
e. No hole sitting by competitor or non-competitor to aide another competitor will be allowed. Violators will be disqualified.
f. Each competitor is required to report to the Tournament Director immediately any violation or infraction of any tournament rules.
g. Failure to report violations, or suggestions to another competitor that they violated these rules, or false verification of weigh-in forms, will be cause for disqualification.
h. Protests must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of the closing of the scales.
i. OFFICIAL PROTESTS MUST BE FILED IN WRITING AND BE ACCOMPANIED BY $100 PROTEST FEE. ALL PARTIES OF INTEREST WILL BE PROVIDED A COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT. UPON A RULING THAT THE PROTEST IS LEGITAMATE THE PROTEST FEE WILL BE REFUNDED.

XXI. POLYGRAPH
a. All participants in the tournament are subject to polygraph as situations warrant, and at the discretion of the tournament director.
b. A polygraph will be secured by tournament officials for all events.
c. Anglers agree to abide by the results of the polygraph test.
d. Failure to agree to a polygraph will result in disqualification from the event.

XXII. SCORING
a. The first place angler in each division will be awarded 300 points.
b. The first ten (10) places will be scored in five (5) point increments.
c. Places 11-20 will be scored in four (4) point increments.

e. Places 31-40 will be scored in two (2) point increments.
f. Places 40 and below will be scored in one (1) point increments.
g. Anglers not catching any fish during competition will be awarded one-half of the points awarded to the last place angler weighing in fish. Whole numbers only.
h. Co-anglers may fish one regular season tournament as a boater and still have their points accumulate on the co-angler side of the event. (Reasoning: To build up confidence and encourage them to move to the professional side of the event in the future. In most cases, this occurs on an anglers’ home lake where they are more comfortable.)

a. The LADY BASS CLASSIC will consist of a 1/3 of the average tournament competitors in a division or a minimum of the top ten (10) anglers from the Angler of the Year points plus:
1. up to three college anglers who qualify according to their own organizational guidelines (one from each organization), who will fish as co-anglers.
2. up to the three next highest qualifying pros from the angler of the year points. (To equal the number of college co-anglers)
3. a Wildcard- Drawn from LBAA anglers who fished all four regular season tournaments but failed to qualify for the Lady Bass Classic. (will pull from those who fished three if there are not enough 4/4’s to balance the field.)

1. Off Limits (Dead water) will be the 5 weekdays prior to the first day of official practice.
2. Official practice begins on Saturday before the first day of competition and ends at 12 noon on the Wednesday prior to the start of the tournament on Thursday.
3. Competitors Only during official practice.
4. No information may be obtained from any person other than fellow competitors during the official practice period and continuing until the conclusion of the final day of competition on Saturday.
5. The combined three day weight will determine the Lady Bass Classic Champion.
6. 5 fish limit for the Professionals and a 3 fish limit for Co-Anglers.
7. On day one of the Lady Bass Classic, Pros and Co-Anglers will be paired together based upon their finish in the Angler of the Year point race. This will be the order of the boat launch for the first day. (1-1, 2-2, 3-3…)
8. On day two, the field will be reversed on the pro side and the co-angler order is randomly generated by the computer.
9. On day three, the pairings will be based on the standings from day two which will include the order of take-off. (1-1, 2-2, 3-3…)

XXV. END OF YEAR RECOGNITIONS
a. Anglers with the highest total points, who meet the criteria set for each category will be recognized for their accomplishment.
b. Points will be accumulated during four regular season events. (Three of four will count for the total AOY points)
c. The lowest score for each angler who fished all four events will be dropped.
d. Anglers earning the recognitions will be acknowledged at the Lady Bass Classic , on the LBAA web page and in the newsletter.
