Lincoln, AL—What an exciting event it was on the waters of Lake Logan Martin as the Lady Bass Anglers Association traversed the waters searching for the renowned Coosa River spotted bass. After two days of tough and changing conditions the ladies proved their skills as top notch anglers as they remained focused through the changes and brought bass to the scales on the stage at Caribe in Lincoln, Alabama.
Missouri Angler, Mickie Wolfinbarger moved from 5th place to win the event with a final day 5 fish limit totaling 8.74 lbs. It was not the biggest bag of the event, but Wolfinbarger proved that consistency keeps you in the hunt! “One of the keys for me was moving water. As long as they were pulling water, I could catch fish that were of better quality.” Wolfinbarger’s two day total of pounds was enough to edge her past the day one leader when things tallied out. Mere ounces separated first and second place.
Maiden, North Carolina Pro Angela Mayo brought the biggest bag of the tournament to the scales on day one, but simple was not able to match that weight on day two. Texas Pro Pam Ridgle was consistent with her event starting and finishing in 3rd place. Another consistent angler was another Missouri Pro Leslie Anderson of St. Louis. Anderson was in the top five each day and finished in 4th place with 16.87 lbs. Rounding out the top five was Centre, Alabama Pro Lisa Johnson who was able to move up to 5th place on the final day.
The co-anglers also performed well in the changing conditions of the event. Raleigh, North Carolina’s Robyn Cook was able to edge past day one leader Noella McLaurin of Vivian, Louisiana to finish in 1st place from the back of the boat with 10.45 lbs. McLaurin brought in 10.02 lbs. to finish in second place. Consistency again ruled for Bradyville, Tennessee’s DeAnna Lovvorn who finished in 3rd place with 9.81 lbs. Chandler, Texas Alisa Johnson charge up the ranks to finish in 4th place with 8.68 lbs. The top five rounded out with Diamond City, Arkansas’ Jan Hudson with 8.67 lbs.

As the anglers came across the stage, they expressed their appreciation to their sponsors, the event sponsors, the crowd, the city, and Caribe for their amazing hospitality and support. There also echoed an invitation to all the ladies to join them on the tournament trail for the remainder of the 2017. The friendship between the ladies along with the support of one another is what sets this sport apart from all others. Even in extreme competition there is a bond among this group that is unique which makes these events so much fun for the friends and families of the lady bass anglers.
All of this being said, one of the keys to the success of the smooth running event was the support of the sponsors. The City of Lincoln, Alabama, Caribe, Montana’s, Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative, BWSC Engineering Firm, Midway Auto Parts, Grover Tire, and Yo-Zuri Custom Baits. Flat Out Tungsten, Bass Addict, Picky Vicki’s, Rayjus, HITEC,c, Rod Armorz, Kick’n Bass, and Clay Maxey Ford. The Boys Club members assisted with fish care and returning the fish to the water each day of the weigh-in. The ladies are also appreciative of the “Bass Caddies” who take care of launching and loading the boats and watching over the vehicles during the event! We are incredibly appreciative of all of the support of these wonderful sponsors.
