The Pro Gator Boats sponsored Lady Bass Anglers Association has rescheduled the Cane River Lake event for later in the season

amid concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic. The obvious and most foremost reason was the safety for all involved. We certainly don’t want any of our anglers or staff to be compromised and we also want to be conscious of the city of Natchitoches and the health of their citizens. Louisiana native Penny McCurdy states,

we were so excited, and now equally disappointed to have ladies come from across the country to experience the quality fishing on Cane River in the spring.” The same disappointment was expressed by Mayor Posey. “We want everyone to be able to experience all that Natchitoches has to offer, but under the current conditions that is not possible.”

Rest assured, the Pro Gator Boats sponsored Lady Bass Anglers Association will be coming to Natchitoches in 2020 and we want everyone to join us experience all the City of Natchitoches has to offer! Everything that we had planned to take place in March will take place in September. We anticipate anglers periodically coming into Natchitoches during the summer to get some time in on the water and patronize various local establishments. Fall fishing can be just as amazing as spring fishing. It is just a different kind of challenge and approach. DeAnna Lovvorn, the reigning Lady Bass Classic Champion of the co-anglers division, hits the nail on the head when it comes to fishing a lake that you have never seen with her moto. “The challenge of a fishery is to Improvise, adapt and overcome.”

The new tournament dates are September 11-12, 2020. We are still in the process of making a few arrangements related to the two free kids’ events that were scheduled. As soon as we have the updated details of the “Get Hooked: Casting with the Pros Event” at the Louisiana State Hall of Fame and North Louisiana History Museum and the Pond Hopper Nation’s "Teach a Child to Fish Day" we will make those available. Until then, we hope each of you and your families are sheltering at home and enjoying the time that you have. In the meantime, please check out the LBAA’s Cane River Lake Digital Magazine on our website under the “Tournaments” tab.

Robbie Hartline

Robbie Hartline

My name is Robbie Hartline and I live in Hot Springs, AR. I grew up in the Southwest; Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. My Dad introduced me to fishing as a child and I was hooked from the start. Our approach was quite different then. Most of our fishing was done in a lawn chair hoping to catch whatever would bite. I looked forward to every trip and even won a Zebco 33 in a derby when I was 12.
