The Lady Bass Anglers Association will kick off the 2021 on Lake Ray Hubbard on March 25-26. This will begin the next era for the Women’s Pro Bass Tour presented by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits.
In the coming weeks, anglers from across the country will converge on the City of Garland to begin preparations for the event. Each angler is filled with anticipation of setting the hook on some big Texas bass.
“We are excited to kick-off the 2021 season in Texas”, states Cheryl Bowden, Co-Founder of the LBAA. Erin Wilson and the team with the City of Garland have been amazing with all the things they have done behind the scenes to make this event happen. It is also a tremendous help to have the Holiday Inn Express right there with designed boat parking on site. Those living in the metroplex area known very well how the traffic can sometimes be along I-30. With so many amenities in the immediate vicinity, it makes it so much easier for the anglers to traverse the area with their rigs. We also want to express our appreciation to Bill Megelich and Kelly Tylenda and their team at Bass Pro Shops Garland for all their efforts. They so graciously allowing space for the weigh-in, setting up seating for social distancing and getting the fish safely back into the lake after they are weighed in.
As anglers arrive and begin to dissect the lake, the conditions will be prime for catching a lot of bass. The spring pattern will provide anglers with the opportunity to target bass in a variety of ways. Some fish will still be in pre spawn mode. Other fish will be spawning and yet others will have already spawned and will be moving back toward their normal summer locations. Secret York, Co-Founder of the LBAA states, “Texas is known for big bass and we experienced that when we were here in the fall of 2012. With the time of the year and the full moon the week we are here, there is no telling the size and number of fish that anglers will bring to the scales each day.”
On Thursday and Friday mornings the anglers will launch and make their way to the boat docks located just behind Bass Pro Shops in Garland for the morning rituals that include the final instructions from the tournament director, prayer, and the playing of the national anthem. All if this will take place just before safe light which will be at approximately 6:30 AM. Spectators are welcome to come down to the shoreline to see the anglers off. Those spectators with boats are welcome to follow various anglers around to see how the day progresses. At 3:00 PM each day, the anglers will check in at those same docks, go load their boats for weigh in at Bass Pro Shops Garland. Weigh-in will begin at 3:30 PM on the concrete pad just outside the store exit. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos of the anglers as they go across the stage. We will be following social distancing and face covering protocols, but anglers are able to remove their masks for photos. For those not able to attend the weigh-in or who wish to social distance, we will be live streaming the weigh-in on our Lady Bass Anglers Association Facebook page. Either way, we would love to have you join us!
2021 is bringing new opportunities to the LBAA. We have started a Junior membership to help support and grow fishing in young anglers. This membership is for two years and it for those 18 and under. Youngsters can now join the LBAA, get an LBAA members t-shirt, autographed photos of up to three anglers of their choice, LBAA stickers and if they attend an event, a chance to meet their favorite anglers in person. For more information on the Junior membership, please visit https://www.ladybassanglers.com/join-the-lbaa.html.
